Vaticinan pérdidas millonarias en producción agrícola paraguaya

Asunción, 7 feb (PL) El sector agrícola paraguayo tendrá pérdidas este año por más de mil 500 millones de dólares por la sequía que afecta al país desde finales del 2011, reveló hoy la Cámara Paraguaya de Exportadores de Cereales y Oleaginosas. De una producción inicial estimada en ocho millones 870 mil 913 toneladas, la proyección actual ronda los cuatro millones 599 mil 511, con pérdidas pronosticadas del 47,66 por ciento, explicó Luis Cubillas, asesor de la entidad.Los estudios entre productores y cooperativistas demostraron también considerable reducción en el rendimiento de la producción de soja al alcanzar en promedio mil 556 kilogramos por hectárea (kg/ha).Cubillas precisó que hubo áreas donde el rendimiento alcanzó los 300 kg/ha, mientras en otras superaron los dos mil kg/ha.Para los cosechadores de esa oleaginosa lo normal es lograr rendimientos en el orden de los tres mil kilogramos por hectáreas.Paraguay, cuarto exportador mundial de soja, produjo 8,4 millones de toneladas de la oleaginosa en la cosecha 2010/2011, y los pronósticos para el período actual rondan las 4,6 millones de toneladas.Los lugares más afectados por la falta de lluvias fueron la zona norte de los departamentos de Alto Paraná (este), Canindeyú (noreste) e Itapúa (sur), informó Cubillas.La producción agrícola se vio dañada, además, por el descenso del nivel de las aguas del río Paraguay, que afectó el transporte fluvial, la huelga de camioneros por mejoras de pago por flete y las ocupaciones de propiedades por campesinos, según la fuente.
